ReQonsult GmbH introduces the Polarion® Project Updater – an in-house solution designed to automate template rollouts in Siemens Polarion®

(Berlin, March 19, 2026) Berlin, Germany — Companies that use Siemens Polarion® as their central ALM platform often face the challenge of consistently and efficiently applying updated project templates to existing projects. With the Polarion® Project Updater, ReQonsult GmbH is now introducing its latest in-house development — a solution that addresses precisely this previously unresolved gap and, for the first time, establishes a massively time-saving approach for template rollouts across existing projects.

“The goal of this development was to create a robust technical foundation for managing template rollouts,” explains Nick Entin, Head of Research & Development at ReQonsult. “We were able to successfully achieve this. At the same time, our customers benefit from significant efficiency gains: What used to take several hours and was prone to errors is now completed reliably and error-free in just a few minutes.”

Technically, the Polarion® Project Updater is based on so-called configuration groups, which logically bundle projects and transparently map their dependencies on templates. Differences between the template and the project are analyzed based on rules and classified into defined categories, from which specific rollout actions are derived. Project-specific customizations are taken into account in this process. In the event of relevant deviations, the system automatically generates work items in the respective project, through which the necessary decisions are made and documented within the framework of a defined workflow.

The conceptual design of the Polarion® Project Updater was significantly influenced by Guido Majewski, a senior consultant at ReQonsult: “Organizations often continue to refine their process models while existing projects remain based on older template versions. In our experience, this is because both the manual effort involved and the risk of unintentionally overwriting project-specific customizations are high. The Polarion® Project Updater provides a novel and controllable approach to template updates in this regard,” says Majewski.

In addition, the Polarion® Project Updater provides key functions for tracking rollout histories, clearly displaying template versions, and leveraging existing role and permission models. Global administrators are responsible for rollouts, while project-specific decisions are made at the project level.

With the Polarion® Project Updater, ReQonsult is expanding its portfolio of in-house developments. Following the ReQonsult MATLAB® Connector, this is the company’s second standalone software solution. “Developing our own tools is an integral part of our service offering,” explains Hartmut Schäfer, CEO & Founder of ReQonsult GmbH, adding: “Our vision is to translate the specific requirements from our daily consulting practice into technically sound, reliable, and easy-to-use solutions.”
